Getting Krabi in Thailand

So we’ve spent a couple weeks visiting both of our families and friends, bumming around, finishing grad school applications, eating (too much) good food and not really enjoying the cold weather!  We still have a couple more weeks before we are allowed to go back to India so we’ve decided to do some traveling in Thailand.  We flew into Bangkok and met up with our friend from Deep Griha, Becky then headed down to Krabi on the Andaman Coast where we spent a crazy packed 24 hours with Sholeh, Sohayl and their cousins Nadim and Rooha.  They have been traveling and spent the last week in Thailand and we managed to meet up for this one day with them and had an amazing time.  We even got to crash in their really nice hotel right on the beach since they had gotten a free upgrade to a family room.  Krabi is incredibly beautiful with limestone islands and sparkling turquoise waters.  We took a boat to famous Railay Beach and had some banana pancakes then rented a couple kayaks for two hours and paddled around the rocks and islands and through some caves.  It was incredible.  After that we went on a half day snorkeling tour that stopped in 5 different spots for us to get out and snorkel.  At one point there was a huge school of beautiful yellow and black fish surrounding us!  The tour included dinner on a secluded island beach of prawn Thai green curry, rice and vegetables as we watched the sunset.  The final part of our tour involved going to the dark shadowed side of one of the islands and saw the bioluminescence (google it!)…coolest thing ever!  We got into the dark water and when you move your legs and arms around thousands of these little plankton light up and glow in the dark.  It was really neat, wish we could have taken some pictures.
Today we’re heading to Ko Phi Phi, an island about an hour and a half away to spend a few days of snorkeling, beaching and eating $1 pad thai and fried bananas with fresh coconut ice cream!  Best!
